Cancer Research Technology’s Ximbio business unit is unifying the research reagent community to make tools more widely and easily available, to accelerate life science research. It provides a central portal for the life science community to exchange knowledge and trade reagents.

The Ximbio team is responsible for the proactive commercialisation of research tools and diagnostic materials produced by Cancer Research UK funded research programmes and other academic research institutes and funding bodies globally.

This is an exciting opportunity to join the team; the post holder will report into the Scientific Portfolio Manager (SPM) and is responsible, alongside the SPM, for the management of the current portfolio in addition to the product life cycle of new tools presented for inclusion into the Ximbio portfolio. The key responsibilities of the role are:

  • Scientific assessment and due diligence of new products submitted for inclusion into the portfolio.
  • Review of scientific publications of the tools to supplement the technical data of these new products.
  • Liaise with inventing scientists or technology transfer offices to gather technical data required for commercialisation.
  • Uploading of technical data into company databases and external websites
  • Providing scientific content for creation of flyers/newsletters/other forms of collateral for specific marketing campaigns.
  • Assessment of external scientific reviews of products in portfolio, liaise with the submitting scientist to confirm details if required.
  • Proactive product auditing of third party managed portfolios.
  • Scouting for new third party portfolios to potentially bring into CRT.

You will have an MSc in life sciences with commercial life sciences experience in an externally facing role. You will be able to demonstrate an understanding of the commercial application of hybridoma cell lines and other research tools such as transgenic mice, cell lines and small molecules as tool compounds; practical experience in a life science discipline using any of these tools would be beneficial.

You will possess excellent communication, organisational and attention to detail skills as well as the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Having an intuitive and innovative approach to your work would be a distinct advantage.
