Catalogue Number 151680
Host Human
Tissue Ovary
Disease Keywords Adenocarcinoma
Relevance The TO14 cell line is one of nine from the PE ovarian adenocarcinoma panel (derived from 4 patients at varying stages of ovarian cancer, isolated from various malignant sites, and at various treatment stages) which provides a model system for research into the mechanism of oestrogen action on ovarian adenocarcinoma tumour cells, and for the study of efficacy and toxicity of oestrogen protagonists. TO14 is an adherent cell line derived from a metastasis to the omentum obtained at hysterectomy from a patient with a well differentiated serous adenocarcinoma. TO14 exhibits poor growth in semi-solid medium (agar). TO14 is from the same patient as PEO23 cell line. This is a oestrogen receptor negative cell line. Cell line morphology: epithelial; stellate in shape and producing hemicystic colonies which grow upwards from the substrate and detach as spheres.
Research Area Cancer, Drug Discovery & Development
Growth/Phenotype Keywords Adherent
Recommended Growing Conditions RPMI 1640 + 2mM Glutamine + 2mM Sodium Pyruvate + 10% Foetal Bovine Serum (FBS).
