Reactivity Human
Relevance Monoclonal antibody to understand the role of BORIS protein in prostate cancers.

Background and Research Application
BORIS protein is a transcriptional repressor encoded by CTCFL gene, and is normally present at high levels in testis.
BORIS protein has been identified as Cancer-Testis Antigen (CTA) with testis-specific paralogue of the CCCTC-binding factor. Recent studies have demonstrated that BORIS is directly responsible for the transcriptional activation of TSP50 (testes-specific protease 50). BORIS protein is detected in all prostate cell lines and prostate tumours, but it is absent in benign prostatic hyperplasia tissues. Increased BORIS protein levels correlate with higher Gleason scores, T-stage and androgen receptor (AR) protein levels in prostate tumours.
This reagent is for research and as a diagnostic tool.
Host Mouse
Immunogen The N-terminal domain (aa 2-257) of human BORIS (CTCFL) protein, expressed in E.coli
Immunogen UniProt ID Q8NI51
Positive Control Testis
Subclass IgM kappa
Molecular Weight (kDa) 83
Recommended Growing Conditions HM20-10% HCF (Further details in remarks)
Notes Production Details
Purified using multi-step affinity chromatography with protein A.

Storage Conditions
Store at -20 degrees frozen. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles.

Points of Interest
Detection of BORIS in prostate tumours suggests potential applications of BORIS as a biomarker for prostate cancer diagnosis, as an immunotherapy target and, potentially, a prognostic marker of more aggressive prostate cancer.

Protein L beads should be used for ChIP and IP because this antibody is IgM kappa

Staining Pattern: May be nuclear, cytoplasmic or both (depending on cell type)

Concentration
1mg/ml as standard
Research Area Cancer, Epigenetics & Nuclear Signalling
