| Relevance | Antibody to muscular dystrophy gene. Relevant for anoctamin 5 linked diseases - muscular dystrophy, GDD1, dysferlinopathy. Antibody is of use for diagnostic and research purposes on anoctamin 5 and other anoctamins. The antibody also has relevance in research in cell membrane repair, membrane trafficking and chloride channels. |

| Notes |
Molecular Weight: The protein has an expected molecular mass of ~107kDa. However, it is rarely detected using this antibody in muscle tissue. By western blot using lysates prepared from C2C12 cells (wt), RD and fibroblasts 3 bands are detected; 37 KDa, 55kDa and the expected molecular mass. In the Aceview database (http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/IEB/Research/Acembly/av.cgi?db=human&term=ano5&submit=Go) there is evidence from clones of a short C-terminal isoform. This is likely the small isoform detected in control muscle. |
