| Antigen/Gene or Protein Targets | tEH5 (32.5kDa) protein, receptor binding domain of influenza hemagglutinin (H5) |
| Reactivity | Virus |
| Relevance | The hemagglutinin (HA) protein is one of the two major surface glycoproteins on the envelope of influenza A virus. The HA protein is responsible for receptor binding to host cells and for viral entry and is therefore the primary target of neutralizing antibodies. It is a homotrimer, with each subunit made up of two disulfide-linked polypeptides, HA1 and HA2. The N-terminal subunit HA1 contains the receptor binding domain. In this study, the receptor binding domain of the H5N1 avian influenza hemagglutinin (H5) was expressed in E.coli and used as antigen target. This project targets to generate monoclonal antibodies against H5 for diagnostic and therapeutic applications. |
