Recombinant monoclonal antibody directed against endothelial cell marker (CD31, JC70), capable of evaluating tumour angiogenesis and angiosarcoma more effectively than anti-FVIII-Reg. Background and Research Application CD31/JC70, also known as platelet endothelium cell adhesion molecule (PECAM-1), is a 130kDa transmembrane glycoprotein found on cell surface of endothelial cells, platelets, macrophages and Kupffer cells, granulocytes, lymphocytes (T cells, B cells, and NK cells), megakaryocytes, and osteoclasts. PECAM1 is a member of the immunoglobulin (Ig) superfamily. It is also a major constituent of the endothelial cell intercellular junction and expressed in certain cancers. PECAM1 is involved in cell signalling and adhesion, trans-endothelial migration of leukocytes, angiogenesis, and integrin activation. PECAM1 is a specific marker of endothelial differentiation. This is a recombinant version of the anti-CD31 monoclonal antibody . Anti-CD31 be used to identify the presence of endothelial cells in a histological tissue sample to determine the degree of angiogenesis (which in turn can determine tumour severity/growth). Anti-CD31 stains a fixation resistant epitope on endothelial cells in both benign and malignant endothelial cells in angiosarcomas with more consistency than monoclonal or polyclonal antibodies to FV111-Rag . C70 is a good marker of endothelial cells in paraffin sections. Anti-CD31 was created to recognise membrane bound glycoprotein CD31/JC70. |

Production Details Purified using multi-step affinity chromatography with protein A. Storage Conditions Store at -20 degrees frozen. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles. Points of Interest Anti-CD31 is useful in studying benign and malignant human vascular disorders in processed tissue samples. It reacts with endothelial cells in a wide range of tissues, with specific reactions to endothelium when staining fixed tissue. Anti-CD31 allows for analysis of cutaneous angiosarcomas. Anti-CD31 is more evenly distributed and reliable than commonly used marker factor VIII antibody, used as a vascular endothelial cell marker.
