| Relevance | Heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoproteins (hnRNPs) are a family of ubiquituous expressed proteins that bind directly to nascent RNA Polymerase II transcripts and play a role in packaging and alternative splicing of pre-mRNAs, as well mRNA transport and metabolism. The M proteins are pre-mRNA binding proteins in vivo, and bind to poly(G) and poly(U) RNA homopolymers in vitro. the M4 is the largest M protein. |
