Notes |
Derived from A549 human lung adenocarcinoma cell line, these cells lack both mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) and a functional mitochondrial electron transport chain and are auxotrophic for uridine and pyruvate. These cells can be repopulated with exogenous mtDNA (e.g., mtDNA from patients with mitochondrial disease) allowing for mitochondrial mutational analysis. The original parental lines are available upon request. |
